We are honored to have organized our second annual FNC Bank Reality Fair, held on May 14th at Osceola High School for the Junior classes from both Osceola and St. Croix Falls High Schools. Building on the success of last year's event with Osceola students, we extended the opportunity to St. Croix Falls students to have an even stronger impact.

FNC Bank reality fair

What is a Reality Fair?

A reality fair is a simulation of an adult's financial life that gives young people an interactive experience to make real-world financial decisions and manage money. Participants get to see what it's like to have an account at a financial institution, make choices about how to use their money, get a loan, handle debt, and so much more. For students, this event is an eye-opening yet fun way to develop financial knowledge and skills. They get to dive into the world of finance and have a blast learning how to manage their money like a pro!

Students enjoyed interacting with the different life stations and learning how their financial decisions impacted other areas of their life and their budget – from renting vs buying a home, vehicle choice, the expense of children, healthcare, and more. Of course, This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of local volunteers who took time from their busy schedule to provide guidance at each station throughout the reality fair. We truly could not have done it without them! These local business partners include: SF Insurance Group, Northwood Technical College, Edina Realty, The Unique Boutique, Polk County Abstract, Krumm Exteriors, Dick's Fresh Market, Valley Sweets, WJE Company, Juneberry Cafe, Stein Insurance Agency, Osceola Medical Center, Connectology, The Open Cupboard of Osceola, Family Friendly Workplaces, Village of Osceola, Vater Solutions, Taylors Falls Scenic Boat Tours, Mighty Ducts Family, Falls Chamber of Commerce, The Rivergroup Financial Advisors, Village of Osceola, Osceola School District, Edward Jones / Matt Fisk, and Primerica.

Additionally, the success of the fair hinged on the collaborative efforts of Osceola and St. Croix Falls High Schools, with the schools not only providing venue and transportation but, most importantly, reinforcing the significance of financial literacy in our schools. We are proud to contribute to the growth and success of our local youth, and to guide them through important decisions that may come along their journey in life!
